The guy from the motorcycle shop I filed the lawsuit against got his summons today, and called me. He tried to call my bluff, saying he had this kickass lawyer who'd already said this case had no chance in court, etc., and I told him I was willing to find out. He said, "It's just gonna cost you money," to which I replied, "It's already cost me $800, so I've really got nothing to lose. You think I'm gonna walk away from $800 because I don't want to risk $64 in court fees?" Then he said that going to court wasn't necessary, and wanted to know how we could settle it. At first, he wanted me to bring the bike back to him again and let him repaint it, but I finally just flat out told him that wasn't going to happen; he's not working on my bike again. Then he tried bullshidding me about the fender, saying he had fixed it and I had screwed it up, but I told him that story was crap too, and that I wanted my money back and that was the only way I was willing to drop the lawsuit.
In the end he agreed to refund $600. He did remove the old tank and mount the new one, so I'm satisfied with getting 75% of my money back.
The money's not in my hands yet, so I haven't gone to the courthouse to settle it, but I will do that when the check clears. He said it would take him about a week to get it. A business that doesn't even have $600 in the bank? Might be the result of some of his customer service policies, ya think?
I got into a car seat throwing match with the skank across the street a few days ago. Their rowdy ass ADHD kids got it from someone's trash can and were playing with it, and left it in the road directly in front of my driveway. I finally got sick of driving around it and threw it down the road so it landed right in front of their driveway. Five minutes later it was in my yard. I went to knock on the door, but Tim stopped me. I went and put it back in the trash can at the original owner's house. I'm glad school is starting back soon because those kids are about to drive me nuts.
My neighborhood sucks ass. Have I mentioned that lately? Sucks. Ass. I wanna move, and I'm not joking. Someone give me $40,000 for a down payment plus about $5,000 for closing costs and, oh, another $5,000 to cover the other expensive crap that always comes up when you buy a house and move. Please? Pretty please? I told Tim tonight we have to make this a serious 5 year goal-- to get this house in selling shape, save up a down payment, and get the hell out of East Petal.
I'm about 1/10000000th of the way done with my latest project, which is painting the front bathroom. The wallpaper was put directly onto the drywall without any primer, and it's hard to get it off without screwing up the walls. I'm going to have to refinish the sheetrock before I paint it. It's hard to make quick progress on projects like this with a young'un Charlie's age in the house.
Speakinawhich, he's got a 1 month break from preschool. I'm not 100% sure he's going back; I plan to talk to the director before he does. The Hair Puller should be moving up to the next class soon. His last day was Monday. Hair Puller was not there, and it was reported that Charlie had a great day.
We're going on vacation in a week and a half. I know. Summer is over. But if you schedule your beach vacation to start the first day of the off season, you save, like, $400. It's a win-win. It's still hot, everyone else is gone back to school, and it's cheaper. So technically it would be a win-win-win. A win to the third power. A win cubed.
I'm going to court. No, I didn't finally snap and punch someone in the face. Yet. I'm suing a motorcycle shop. The one that agreed to paint my bike for $600, then when we went to get it demanded more money, bringing the total to $800, then when we picked it up from being buffed out he gave it back to us WITH THE PAINT SANDED DOWN TO THE METAL annnnnnnnd offered us two free oil changes to compensate. Yeah. I thought about it for a long time, and finally decided I'm suing the son of a bitch. It can't hurt. Worst case scenario is that I lose, and it cost me $64 in court fees, but even then at least I stood up for myself and showed the asshole he can't just rob people like that. I've never sued anyone in my life, and never thought I would, but I'm tired of taking shit off people and being ripped off every time I try to get something done.
